Final and Semi-Final scores
The 2001 league built on the success of the previous two years, with only one defaulted game in over fifty scheduled fixtures. It was also the first year that we held semi-finals and a final (with a small hat tournament on the Saturday morning before the final, a good number of spectators, and a huge two-venue party to finish things off in the evening.)
Far Queue were never seriously threatened this year, although they did have a couple of minor scares against Hammerage and Strawberry Jam, when they turned out with a dangerously thin squad.
The fight for the other three semi-final places was much closer, with Freak Show only just beating Angels and Spandau in sudden death. Strawberry Jam's consistency secured them the third semi final place, but the last spot was decided in a three-way tie, caused when Spandau lost their crucial Hammerage game 15-3 by showing up with only three guys and three girls. Spandau crashed out of the running on points difference, and Angels went through thanks to their 13-11 win over Hammerage in a nail-biting final pool game.
A slightly depleted Freak Show squad put up a valiant fight in the first half of the final (which took place in desperately windy conditions), but were eventually overpowered by Far Queue.
Spirit was convincingly won by Bad Habits (31.3 points), followed by Spandau (29.6 pts), Strawberry Jam (28.7 pts) and Cloud 9 (28.15 pts).
